HUBLI: The Congress in Gadag district received a set in the civic polls as the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Janata Dal (Secular) succeeded in wresting three civic bodies from it. According to the results announced on Sunday, the BJP has registered clear majority in Gajendraghad and Nargund Town Municipality, while the Janata Dal (Secular) has won 14 of the total 17 seats in Shirhatti Town Panchayat. In Gadag-Betageri City Municipality, the BJP is marching towards clear majority. The Congress has succeeded in retaining power in Mulgund Town Panchayat and Ron and Mundaragi Town Municipality. There is no clear verdict in Naregal Town Panchayat and Laxmeshwar Town Municipality.
