KOLAR: With the results of the Kolar City Municipal Council out on Sunday, there has been a call for the suspension of the local MLA K. Srinivasa Gowda. Addressing presspersons here after the announcement of results, city Block Congress president Afroz Pasha and rural Block Congress president Begli Suryaprakash demanded the suspension of Mr. Gowda for his alleged role in ignoring genuine party activists while distributing ticket for the polls. This had caused a setback for the party, they said. Varthur Prakash, whose faction won 15 seats, urged Mr. Gowda to resign as MLA owing moral responsibility for the party not winning a good number of seats. Mr. Prakash claimed that though his group won 15 seats, several others, including those who had won on the Congress symbol, were with him, taking the total strength to 25. Memorandum A memorandum would be submitted to KPCC president M. Mallikarjun Kharge and AICC president Sonia Gandhi demanding action against the MLA, Mr. Prakash added.
