This Day That Age
The UGC has approved of a scheme for the establishment of an aid fund in the universities for rendering financial assistance to poor students. Disclosing this while delivering the convocation address of the Poona University on September 29, the UGC Chairman, Mr. C.D.Deshmukh, said that a condition for the establishment of the fund was that every student of the university should contribute at least Re.1 per annum to the fund. The UGC would contribute each year a sum equivalent to the total sum contributed by the students subject to a maximum of Rs.10,000.
