Grant concession to SC, ST students

The fee structure of Dr. N.T.R. University of Health Sciences for the four-year B.Sc. (Nursing) course has made many students of scheduled castes and scheduled tribes discontinue their studies. The university is collecting Rs. 600 towards application fee, in which a concession of Rs. 200 is given to SC and ST students.

At the time of counselling, all students will have to pay an admission fee of Rs. 3,800, in which there is no concession for SC and ST students. With many students failing to pay the admission fee, some private colleges are making use of the situation and encouraging such students to join their institutions by offering fee concession. But in the middle of the academic year, the private institutions are forcing students to pay the balance fee. With the banks not offering any educational loan, many students are forced to discontinue their studies. I request the university authorities to provide fee concession to SC and ST students.

Drainage works

The underground drainage scheme is causing a lot of inconvenience to residents of the city with the works commencing during monsoon. Rainwater is getting stagnated in places where the roads are being dug for the underground drainage works.

The works commenced some two months ago on the Government ITI road and we do not know how much time it would take to complete them. With the APSRTC increasing the frequency of route No. 5 buses, which are passing through the road, traffic jams have become frequent here. I request the authorities concerned to complete the works at the earliest.

Traffic blues

Auto-rickshaw drivers are parking vehicles on the road corner of Kankipadu-Punadipadu on Gudivada road. It often results in frequent traffic jams on the road. With the road getting narrower, drivers of other vehicles are forced to reduce the speed of the vehicles as the road is occupied with auto-rickshaws parked on the roadside. I request the local police to remove these vehicles from the roadside and pave the way for smooth flow of traffic.
