Five Maoists arrested

KHAMMAM: Members of an ‘action team’ were among the five naxalites of the CPI (Maoist) arrested by the police in the Vepalagadda forests of the Yellandu sub-division on Sunday.

Five weapons and a landmine weighing some 18 kg were seized, Superintendent of Police D. S. Chouhan said.

At a news conference here, he said the police were on the lookout for ‘action team’ leader Kommu Ramaswamy and another member Avudoddi Sreenu, who managed to escape.
