North Zone ‘A’, South Zone ‘A’ in title clash

VISAKHAPATNAM: North Zone ‘A’ and South Zone ‘A’ will clash in the final of the ACA inter-zone under-19 cricket tournament for the P. Narasimha Raju Trophy on Tuesday and Wednesday at Vizianagaram.

In the last round of league matches, North Zone ‘A’ defeated Central Zone ‘B’ by five wickets in Pool I, while North Zone ‘B’ beat Central Zone ‘A’ by two wickets in Pool II. South Zone ‘A’ qualified from Pool II.

The N. Venkata Rao Trophy (limited-overs) final will be played between North Zone ‘B’ and South Zone ‘B’ on Monday.

Draw of lots was resorted to find the qualifier from Pool II as none of the matches were held in full measure due to rain.

North Zone ‘B’ made it to the final, while South Zone ‘B’ topped Pool I.

The scores: Central Zone ‘B’ 103 in 34 overs (Jyoti Sai Krishna 38, Vinay Kumar 34) lost to North Zone ‘A’ 107 for five in 32 overs (Prince Susan 35, G. Appanna 32); Central Zone ‘A’ 84 lost to North Zone ‘B’ 86.

Saturday’s scores: Central Zone ‘B’ 170 for eight in 40 overs (R.P. Srikanth 47, R.P. Anil 34, Rajeev Krishna three for 31) lost to North Zone ‘A’ 171 for nine in 37.2 overs (B. Siva Kumar 70, Rajesh Yadav 31); Central Zone ‘A’ 86 for nine in 19 overs (D. Rishi Chowdary 36, S. Satish Kumar three for eight) vs. North Zone ‘B’ (match abandoned due to rain).

Play washed out

Play was washed out on the second and final day of the round-robin match between Central Zone and North Zone in the ACA inter-zone seniors’ tournament for the Venkatagiri Cup at Kakinada on Sunday.

Each team was awarded one point.
