Ganguly to miss second ODI

Bangalore: Though the MRI scan on Sourav Ganguly has not indicated any serious damage to muscles around the hamstring area, the former captain will miss the action in the second one-dayer against Australia.

Niranjan Shah, the BCCI Secretary, confirmed late on Sunday night that Ganguly would miss the match.

Earlier, the India team physio, John Gloster, had indicated to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that the injury “may” force Ganguly to miss the second Future Cup ODI against Australia in Kochi on Tuesday.

Also Mr. Shah, had told The Hindu earlier, “I have received the report from Gloster. There appears to be an element of doubt about Ganguly’s availability for the second game only. In any event, we have Rohit Sharma in the squad as an extra batsman.”
