According to the police, victims had kept most of the valuables in bank lockers On Saturday night, Raju served food to the father, son and the other two domestic helps NEW DELHI: A newly employed domestic help drugged his 77-year-old employer, his son and two domestic helps at their Defence Colony residence here and made off with some cash and valuables on Saturday night. While the victims are stated to be out of danger, a hunt has been launched for the culprit. The incident came to light around 9-30 a.m. on Sunday when six-year-old Priyanshu, grandson of H.B. Saxena, woke up and saw Mr. Saxena, his father Somesh and two domestic helps Rajender and Amar Singh still asleep. He tried to wake them up but to no avail. Suspecting that something was amiss, he informed the neighbours who in turn called in the local police beat staff. The four were subsequently taken to All-India Institute of Medical Sciences from where they were discharged later. Enquiries by the police revealed that Mr. Saxena’s wife Rama passed away about a week ago and his son Somesh, who lives in the United States, was here along with his son. Mr. Saxena told the police that he had employed Raju, a Nepalese, as Amar -- also a Nepali national -- was about to go on leave. The other domestic help Rajender is also from Nepal and has been working for Mr. Saxena for the past 20 years. On Saturday night, Raju served food to the father and son and the other two domestic helps. They became unconscious, after which the domestic help allegedly ransacked the house, collected some cash and valuables and vanished from the scene. According to the police, the victims had kept most of the valuables in bank lockers. They told the police that a domestic help had earlier committed theft in their house. The Defence Colony police have registered a case and have despatched a team to the Indo-Nepal border in search of Raju.
