NEW DELHI: The three-day Gandhi Jayanti Mela organised by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi was inaugurated by the Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Vijay Kumar Malhotra, at Pragati Maidan here on Sunday. The fair is open to the public up to October 2 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and no entry fee is being charged. The fair will showcase stalls of 45 non-government organisations, several Gandhian organisations, over 20 departments of the Central and Delhi Government and also the MCD that will display details of projects being undertaken to upgrade the level of civic services in the Capital. Mr. Malhotra on Sunday, accompanied by Mayor Arti Mehra, Deputy Mayor Savinder Jeet Singh Bajwa, Leader of the House Subhash Arya and Standing Committee Chairman Vijender Gupta took a round of the Mela and visited different stalls. Relevance“The relevance of Mahatma Gandhi’s values is as strong today as it was during his life time. But we have to introspect and see whether we are following the Gandhian way of life,” said Mr. Malhotra.
