KANNUR: District Congress Committee president P. Ramakrishnan has said that the police are teaming up with the Communist Party of India (Marxist) to target the latter’s political rivals in the district. Mr. Ramakrishnan said at a press meet on Monday that the police personnel were mute spectators when CPI(M) workers hurled stones at a public meeting of the Congress at Chirakkuni near Thalassery on Sunday when K. Sudhakaran, MLA, was speaking. The police, he said, was colluding with the CPI(M) to disrupt law and order situation in the constituency of Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan. The police registered a case against CPI(M) workers in connection with the incident. A few Congress workers had been injured in the stone-pelting. The MLA had escaped unhurt. The car of the DCC president had also came under attack near Chirakkuni. He said that the police were yet to arrest CPI(M) workers suspected of having murdered Muhammed Fasal at Thalassery last year.
