PATHANAMTHITTA: Noted Malayalm poet S. Ramesan Nair has been selected for the sixth Vennikkulam Smaraka Award instituted by the Thadiyoor Dakshina Samskarika Vedi in memory of Mahakavi Vennikulam Gopala Kurup. Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Vedi leaders Abraham Thadiyoor, K.N. Radhakrishnan, M.S. Vijayan and C.K. Sreevalsan, said Ramesan Nair was selected for the award for his anthology of poems, ‘Charithrathinu parayanullathu.’ Mr. Thadiyoor said Cooperation Minister G. Sudhakaran would present the award to Mr. Nair at a function to be held at Thadiyoor, near Thiruvalla, on October 6. ONV Kurup, Prabha Varma, P.Madhu, Amrutha and P.K. Gopi are the other poets who have received the Vennikkulam Smaraka Award.
