Krishnagiri: There are no Chikungunya cases reported in Krishnagiri district, Collector Santhosh Babu has said here.
Review meeting
Speaking at a review meeting here on Tuesday the Collector clarified that no case of chikungunya was reported either in Government hospitals or Primary health centres in the district.
He said that some cases that were reported in Bargur, Jinjampatti and surrounding villages were of viral fever.
Clean surroundings
The district administration has asked people not to panic and to keep their surroundings clean. The Collector urged the public to cooperate with the efforts of Government agencies in checking spread of the disease.
The Collector directed panchayat officials to clean all overhead water tanks and dispose of garbage and other waste materials.
Water should not be allowed to stagnate on the premises of houses for it might turn into a breeding ground of mosquitoes.
Directions
Teams comprising medical personnel had been set up at the taluk and district level and directions issued to maintain hygiene in villages, Mr. Babu added.
