Talwara: The first mobile court in Punjab was launched on Tuesday with the purpose of taking justice to the people at their doorsteps. Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court Justice Vijender Jain inaugurated the first mobile court here. Mr. Badal said the mobile court would ensure speedy and affordable dispensation of justice at the doorsteps of the people in remote and backward areas. Referring to birth anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri, he said what could be a better tribute to these great leaders other than launching a mobile court to provide justice, liberty and equality to the poor people. Chief Justice Jain appreciated the support and co-operation extended by the State government for turning the idea of a mobile court into a reality. This mobile court would take up about 2,000 cases of civil and criminal nature, said Justice Jain adding speedy, cost- effective and justice at the doorstep was the corner stone of their constitutional mandate. — PTI
