Watchdog to monitor realtors likely

Staff Reporter

VIJAYAWADA: The Union Ministry of Urban Development is planning to set up an agency to regulate the activities of realtors and private builders. The proposed regulator, which would be a quasi-judicial body, will look into the malpractices of private builders who manage to get away with delivering very little of their tall promises, according to Union Minister for Urban Development S. Jaipal Reddy.

Mr. Reddy said here on Tuesday that the regulator would act as a check on the haphazard development and make developers accountable to buyers. The mechanism, he said, would ensure that the buyers got their apartments in time and builders delivered the assured quality.
