New D-G for SSB

NEW DELHI: Gopal Sharma, a 1972 batch IPS officer of Jammu and Kashmir cadre, took over as Director-General of Sashastra Seema Bal here on Monday.

He replaces Tilak Kak, who had been holding the post since February last year.

Mr. Sharma had been Director-General of Jammu and Kashmir Police for more than four years since May 20, 2003, and was last posted as security adviser to the State Chief Minister.

He is a recipient of the Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Service (1990), President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (1996) and Sher-i-Kashmir Medal for Meritorious Service (2003).
