Two girls go missing

Staff Reporter

ANANTAPUR: Two sisters studying in a private school on the outskirts of the district headquarters town have gone missing since Monday evening, after they alighted the school bus at a nearby distance from their home. Efforts of the police to trace the girls were in vain till Tuesday evening. According to a complaint lodged by the father of the girls, S. Noor Mohammed of Umanagar, his daughters, Mallika Begum (10) and Harishiya Banu (7), studying fifth and second standard, respectively, went missing since Tuesday evening while they were returning from school.

Noor Mohammed and his wife Tara Begum were shocked to find their children missing after they returned home on Monday night. Noor Mohammed had gone out on work, while his wife had been to her relatives place in Tarimela. The two girls would generally stay at home.

They immediately enquired with the neighbours and then went to the police station to lodge a complaint. The girls’ parents told the police that they had no suspicion on anybody or had enmity with anyone.
