CHENNAI: R. Asha Devi, a student of Corporation Higher Secondary School at Perambur, has won an opportunity to visit Colombo, thanks to her oratorical skills.
She was one of the toppers of ‘Talk your way to Colombo’, an oratorical contest in English and Tamil, organised by the Rotary Club of Madras West recently. Her command over the Tamil language and understanding of the theme ‘Rotary’s Role in Global Polio Eradication Initiative’ qualified to the all-expense-paid tour, said Rotary Club district chairman for international service Paul Jacob.
Poomani of SKDJ Higher Secondary School at Tiruverkadu and Baasmi Parvi of St. John’s Matriculation Higher Secondary School shared the first place with Ms. Asha Devi. They were commended for their speech that covered the achievements of the Rotary International in eradicating polio in several countries.
