The undertrial found in ‘bad health’ during roll call exercise
TIRUTTANI: The Tiruttani police have registered a case to investigate the cause for death of an undertrial lodged in the Tiruttani sub-jail.
Enquiries reveal that the prisoner, Vijayakumar of Thenkalapalli near R.K.Pettai, was arrested on the charges of selling illicit liquor on September 29 and remanded to judicial custody.
Vijayakumar was rushed to the Government Hospital here on Tuesday from the sub-jail after the authorities found him in ‘bad health’ during the daily morning roll call exercise. However, the doctors at the Government Hospital declared Vijayakumar as dead on arrival.
