VELLORE: The Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB) fixed a sales target of Rs.65.81 lakh for sale of khadi textile products by the nine KVIB showrooms in Vellore district 2006-07. Of this, the KVIB, Vellore district achieved a sales turnover of Rs.49.78 lakh, constituting 85 per cent of the target. The khadi showrooms are located in Vellore, Arcot, Ranipet, Walajapet, Arakkonam, Gudiyatham, Ambur, Vaniyambadi and Tirupattur.
According to a release from the Assistant Director of Khadi and Village Industries, KVIB, Vellore, a sales target of Rs.94.74 lakh has been fixed for 2007-08, of which the target for the Deepavali season is Rs.56.84 lakh.
