Gandhi remembered

CHENNAI: The 139th Gandhi Jayanthi was celebrated in different parts of the State.

Governor Surjit Singh Barnala and Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi garlanded the Gandhi statue on the Marina in the morning.

An inter-religious prayer was held. at the Secretariat, Mr Karunanidhi administered a pledge to Ministers and senior government officers.

Information Minister Parithi Ilamvazhuthi flagged off a cycle rally by students and declared open an exhibition at the Gandhi Mandapam.

Khadi exhibition

Khadi Minister K. Ramachandran inaugurated an exhibition of products of the Khadi and Village Industries Board.

DMDK’s presidium chairman Panruti S. Ramachandran, accompanied by other functionaries, paid respects at the party headquarters.

Office-bearers of the Janata Dal (Secular) and the Janata Dal (United) visited the memorial of the former Chief Minister, K. Kamaraj, at Guindy on his death anniversary.
