New initiatives from NIIT

Corporate Reporter

CHENNAI: Information technology (IT) major NIIT is undertaking initiatives to develop skilled manpower resources in semi-urban and rural areas. The company, in August, inaugurated a Model District Learning Centre in Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh.

The centre has been designed in the manner of an urban training facility and uses state-of-the-art technology such as fully networked classrooms, machine rooms, laboratories and high bandwidth Internet. It will offer intensive training programmes to over 200 students a year and is planning to add another 200 in the next two years. Subsequently, NIIT intends to launch similar initiatives in other districts.

Hole-in-the-Wall Education Ltd., a non-governmental organisation promoted by NIIT, will establish several Minimally Invasive Education Playground Learning Centres (PLCs) in various villages of Chhindwara district.
