KOLKATA: Mohun Bagan consolidated its position at the top of the table beating Chirag United SC 3-0 in a return match of the Calcutta Football League’s premier division here on Tuesday. Brazilian striker Jose Barreto struck twice in the first half to lead Mohun Bagan’s strong showing. The other goal came from P. Lalawmpuia in the second session. The win helped Mohun Bagan tally 23 points after nine matches, while East Bengal has 19 points from eight matches. Mohun Bagan went into the lead in 23rd minute when Barreto nodded home a corner relayed to him by defender Peter Odafe. Barreto made it 2-0 in the 32nd minute before Lalawmpuia rounded off the tally with a fine effort in the 63rd minute. — Principal Correspondent
