Thiruvananthapuram: Minister for Water Resources N.K. Premachandran on Tuesday stressed the need for adhering to Gandhian principles to protect the sovereignty and integrity of the country. He was inaugurating the Gandhi Jayanti celebrations organised by the Department of Information and Public Relations at the VJT Hall here. The move to align with one major force was against the non-alignment policy followed by the country, Mr. Premachandran said. More relevanceThe works of Gandhi and his principles based on non-violence were more relevant than ever, he said. He stressed the need to maintain cleanliness in the wake of spread of contagious diseases in the State. A plastic-free Kerala was the dream of all Malayalis, he said. Congress leader Thalekunnil Basheer spoke. Sheela Thomas, Secretary, Information and Public Relations, welcomed the gathering. A photo exhibition on Gandhi was also organised.
