384 died in naxal violence this year, says report

NEW DELHI: Naxalites are increasingly getting lethal.

The powerful landmine blast targeting the former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, N. Janardhan Reddy, on September 7 and the killing of 24 security personnel, including 16 Central Reserve Police Force men, on July 10 in the forests of Elampatti-Regadgatta in Dantewada district and 15 more under the Domapal Police Station of Chhattisgarh on August 29 bear testimony to this, according to “The Naxals get Lethal” a quarterly paper issued by the Delhi-based Asian Centre for Human Rights (ACHR) on Wednesday.

Chhattisgarh worst hit

Naxal violence caused the death of 129 civilians, 162 security personnel and 93 alleged naxalites between January and September.

The highest number was reported from Chhattisgarh (208).
