Burglars strike at four houses in Otteri

CHENNAI: Four houses in Otteri became the target of burglars on Monday night, who escaped with about 40 sovereigns of jewellery and other valuables. Police said Venkateswara Rao of Krishnadas Street in Otteri was asleep when burglars broke into his house and escaped with 40 sovereigns of jewellery and Rs. 30,000 in cash.

Three more cases of house break-ins in which valuables, including mobile phones, and cash were stolen were reported from the same area, the police said.

Otteri police are on the look-out for the accused.

Two held

Two college students were arrested on charges of behaving in an obscene manner and for assaulting police personnel.
