JJ CET retains men’s team title

TIRUCHI: Host JJ College of Engineering and Technology and Periyar Maniammai College of Technology for Women retained the overall championship in the men and women’s sections respectively at the Anna University inter-collegiate (zone VIII) athletic meet here on Wednesday.

Women: 100m: 1. S. Sunandha (MAM), 15.3s; 400m: 1. Sindhuja (PAB CET), 1:22.1s; 1,500m: 1. K. Revathi (AVC), 7:44.06s; 4x100m: 1. Periyar Maniammai, 1:04s; 4x400m: 1. Six-wicket win

At Pudukottai, Government Model HSS defeated TELC by six wickets to win the Pudukottai District final of the TNCA inter-school under-17 cricket tournament for the Boost Cricket Cup on Wednesday.

The scores: At Pudukottai: Final: TELC 76 in 23.3 overs (Suresh three for eight, Anbalagan three for 10) lost to Government Model HSS 77 for four in 18.2 overs.

At Tiruchi: semifinal League: Srirangam Boys HSS 212 for five in 40 overs (S.R. Mithun 118, S. Parthiban 30 not out) bt RSK HSS 119 in 32.3 overs (M. Thiruvu five for 21, S.R. Mithun three for four).

Alpha Plus MS 80 in 26 overs lost to Campion AI HSS 85 in 11.3 overs (V. Gowtham 50 not out).
