Shoaib Khan scalps five

VISAKHAPATNAM: Medium pacer Shoaib Mohammed Khan’s five-wicket haul for South Zone A was the highlight of the rain marred final match of the ACA inter-zone under-19 tournament for the P. Narasimha Raju Trophy at Vizianagaram. The organisers declared North Zone A and South Zone A as joint winners on Wednesday.

Half of the first day was lost due to rain and North Zone A declared at 151 for nine in its first innings.

South Zone A could not start its reply due to rain.

Rain intervened on many days even after the tournament was rescheduled and the players are now left with the three-day selection match for the S.L. Narayana Row Trophy to be played from Thursday to impress the State selectors.

The scores: North Zone A 151 for nine decl. in 73 overs (Shoaib Md. Khan five for 62, Praveen three for 41) vs. South Zone A (match abandoned due to rain and both teams declared joint winners). — Special Correspondent
