Fayaz stars for South Zone

VISAKHAPATNAM: Fayaz Ahmed slammed a century (123, 4x6,15x4) as South Zone won the Venkatagiri Cup in the ACA inter-zone tournament for seniors at the NFCL ground, Kakinada on Wednesday.

Fayaz’s 117-run stand with Sameer Ali Khan (51, 7x4) for the fourth wickets was instrumental in South gaining first innings lead against North Zone. The match was called off after South made 261 for nine in reply to North Zone’s 260.

The scores: North Zone 260 drew with South Zone 261 for nine in 54.1 overs (Fayaz Ahmad 123, Sameer Ali Khan 51, Laxman Kishore three for 56). — Special Correspondent
