VIZIANAGARAM: “ An amount of Rs. 3.50 lakh crores is required to fulfil the promises Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy had made to people during the last three and a half years,” said K. Yerran Naidu, TDPP leader. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Mr. Naidu said that not a single promise was fulfilled 100 per cent. Citing examples, he said the Chief Minister imposed restrictions on free power supply to farmers and to whoever were receiving the benefit the supply was erratic. The single-bulb sheme was not extended to any one of the 1.20 crore BPL families. Dr. Rajasekhara Reddy who had launched a "vicious campaign" against TDP on farmers’ suicide had failed to check them. According to party figures, 4,835 suicides were reported during the last three and a half years against 3,000 during the TDP rule, he said and added that Sharad Pawar, Union Agriculture Minister, had himself admitted in Parliament that 1,650 cases of suicide were reported in Andhra Pradesh alone . The promise of two-and-a-half-lakh jobs to youth every year through APPSC and DSC was not kept, Mr. Naidu said and demanded an explanation on the unfulfilled promises to people. It was a fit case of cheating people and a case could be registered against Dr. Rajasekhara Reddy, he said. On Indiramma model villages, he said except housing and pensions there was no mention of other utilities such as B.T. roads, drains, schools, tap connection to each house and nutritious food in the first phase of the programme. Pensions and housing schemes to the poor were launched by N.T. Rama Rao. About 50 lakh houses were constructed during the TDP regime, he claimed and said that the party received awards for eight years in a row when the Congress was in ruling in 15 States in the country. Stating that election fever gripped the Congress more than the Opposition parties, Mr. Naidu said that the Chief Minister relaunched "Deepam" scheme when was not being supplied regularly to existing customers. He said the Chief Minister had failed on all fronts.
