KORAPUT: A high-level delegation of Congress led by AICC and CWC member Ajay Maken visited diarrhoea-hit villages in Kashipur block in Rayagada district on Wednesday.

Mr. Maken, who is also in-charge of the party Orissa unit, handed over an X-ray machine for CHC at Kashipur.

He also interacted with people and medical staff to take a note of situation after the series of deaths due to cholera in the block recently. Responding to their requests, he promised to extend more help from his party.

Expressing displeasure over the situation where people did not have sufficient work in the district, he criticised the State Government for its failure to deliver the benefits of NREGA to the common man in the state. Appreciating the Congress-ruled states like Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra for successfully implementing the scheme, he expressed concern over alleged corruption in the works carried out under the scheme in Jayadev Jena, Orissa PCC chief, Giridhar Gamang, Koraput MP, and all Congress MLAs from the region accompanied him.
