SHGs start maize procurement centre

Staff Reporter

ANANTAPUR: Minister for Agriculture N. Raghuveera Reddy on Tuesday inaugurated a maize procurement centre opened by a Grama Aikya Sangham of SHGs in Kurlapalli village of Lepakshi mandal in the district.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said procurement of the farmers’ produce by the SHGs would ensure a good rate to their produce and timely payment of the money. It would also protect the farmers from the clutches of deceptive brokers and middlemen who generally purchase their produce at low price and make delayed payments.

Earlier, the Minister inaugurated Indiramma Samoohika Gruhapravesham programme at Vannampalli village in Parigi mandal by inaugurating the houses constructed under the Indiramma scheme. He stated that 101 out of 112 houses sanctioned under the first phase of the scheme were constructed in the village so far.
