CHENNAI: The sixth and final leg of the JK Tyre National racing championship 2007 for cars will be held this weekend at the Madras Motor Race Track in Sriperumbudur. The qualifying rounds will be conducted on Saturday (October 6). All eyes will be on the battle for the National crown in the premium category — Formula Rolon Chevrolet — between Aditya Patel and Rayomand Banajee. The winner will drive away in a brand new Chevrolet Optra SRV as announced by GM India earlier. With Aditya of Team NK Racing having 68 points after five rounds, a top finish in one of the two races or a finish in the top three slots in both races will give him the title. Prime Racing’s Rayomand has 56 points. Saran Vikram, with 44 points, also has a chance to take the second spot. In the Formula Hyundai and Formula Swift sections, Ashwin Sundar has already sealed the issue in his favour. In the team championship, it’ll be a fight for the top slot in the Formula Rolon category with just two points separating Team Prime Racing (117) and Team NK Racing (115). Team Rams Racing leads the Formula Hyundai division with 138 points, followed by Team Gemini Racing with 123. Team WSRF with Leela heads the table in the Formula Swift category with 128 points followed by Rams Racing (108). — Sports Reporter
