Bangalore: Tasveer, the gallery that has been promoting photography, presents its second season with photographers of national and international repute.

The first exhibition is that of Swapan Nayak’s works, where the gallery is showcasing two of his series, Nowhere People and Refugees In Their Own Land. Swapan Nayak started working professionally as a photographer in 1995 by freelancing for The Statesman (Kolkata). Later, he joined The Asian Age (Kolkata) as a photojournalist before being hired by Outlook.

Swapan Nayak’s photographs have been published in leading magazines such as Time, Newsweek, Asiaweek and Southern Exposure. Recipient of the National Media Fellowship (2002-03, awarded by the National Foundation for India), he participated in Chobi Mela III (2004) and Chobi Mela IV (2006), an international biennial photography exhibition organised by Drik Photo Agency (Bangladesh). He is also a participant at the group exhibition commemorating India-Japan Friendship Year 2007 in Tokyo, Japan. Apart from regular assignments, Nayak continues to work on several photo projects of socio-economic interest.

The exhibition opens on October 9 and will be on view till October 25, between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays by appointment only.
