Municipal staff go on flash strike

METTUR: Employees of Mettur Municipality went on a flash strike on Wednesday demanding that the police take action against a councillor and a few others, who reportedly prevented the workers from doing their job.

Police sources said that the workers tried to remove five shops from the bus stand following the expiry of the lease period. Ward 27 councillor Palanisamy belonging to AIADMK and a few others allegedly prevented them from removing the shops. In protest against this, the workers resorted to a flash strike.

Police personnel, who rushed to the spot, pacified the workers.
