Krishnagiri: Members of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) staged a demonstration in front of the Collectorate here on Thursday urging the Government to issue house site pattas to Adi Dravidars in the district.

The Government should issue pattas for poromboke lands, which were cultivated by Adi Dravidars for successive generations, they claimed.

Development works

The members also wanted the Government to take up a massive infrastructure development programme in tribal villages. The Government had allotted 1,500 acres of lands to Adi Dravidars in 1987 to take up farming in the district. But local bigwigs prevented them from taking up farming. CPI (M) State executive committee member K. Balakrishnan led the protest.
