NAMAKKAL: Collector G. Sundaramurthi inaugurated the special Deepavali discount sale at the Co-optex showroom here on Thursday.
Silk and cotton
The Collector appealed to the people to purchase silk and cotton cloth varieties at the Co-optex, which provided employment opportunities to a large number of weavers.
The Namakkal showroom had set Rs. 20 lakh as the target for this Deepavali season. Last year, it achieved a total sale of 14.84 lakh.
The Co-optex also has showrooms at Rasipuram and Tiruchengode.
Meanwhile, a press release said that the Salem Region of Co-optex, which comprised Salem, Namakkal, Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri districts, had set Rs. 16 crore as the sales target for 2007-08.
