It’s raining scholarships

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Government has made a threefold increase in the rates of scholarships and increased their number under the State Merit Scholarship Scheme being implemented by the Education Department to encourage students to continue their education, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said on Thursday.

In the case of students who have recently passed the matriculation examination and those who were already getting the scholarship after passing the matriculation examination, the number of 500 scholarships has been raised to 700 and their value has been enhanced from Rs.50 per month to Rs.150 per month each.

Those who have recently passed their 10 plus 2 examination, the number of scholarships has been raised from 350 to 500 and the value of each scholarship has also been enhanced from Rs.100 to Rs.300 per month.

In the case of students of Three Years Degree Course (TDC) Part II and III who were already getting a scholarship, the number of scholarships has been raised from 350 to 500 and their amount from Rs.100 to Rs.300. Those who recently passed TDC Part-III in M.A. Part-I, M.Sc. Part-I and M.Com. Part-I, the number of scholarships has been raised from 150 to 200 and their value enhanced from Rs.150 to Rs.450 per month.
