Belgaum
Belgaum: The family members of the three persons who were washed away in the Markandeya in July are yet to receive compensation. Hassan Kasimsab Mujawar (34), Shirin Rauf Jardosh (25) and 10-month-old Rano Jardosh had drowned in the river, following incessant rain on July 15. All of them were residents of Kakti. Compensation deniedThe district administration had allegedly denied compensation to their family members under the Natural Calamity Relief Fund as they had accidentally drowned when they were on a picnic by the riverside near Honaga. However, the then Assistant Commissioner and in-charge Deputy Commissioner Vijaykumar Torgal promised to consider their case on humanitarian grounds and had recommended compensation under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. However, the family members are yet to receive the compensation. Abdul Sattar Kareem Mujawar, father-in-law of Hassan Kasimsab,, also met Lok Sabha member Suresh C. Angadi and MLA Abhaykumar Patil and urged them to expedite the process.
