KOCHI: The third Varuna inter-school chess tournament begins at the Bhavan’s Varuna Vidyalaya, Thrikkakara, on Saturday. Competitions in LP (classes 1 to 4), UP (5-7) and high school (8 to 12) categories will be conducted in the three-day event.
Individuals will also be allowed to compete in the event if they are unable to form school teams.
Each school will be allowed to field five players in each category. Cash prizes will be given to the top 15 finishers in the individual events and special awards for the top two schools.
