Cooperative society staff to get salary

And arrears also; vacancies to be filled with excess employees in banks

THENI: Salaries and salary arrears will be given to employees in 13 cooperative societies in the district. Excess staff in cooperative banks will be utilised to fill existing vacancies in other cooperative bodies.

These decisions were taken at a special meeting between representatives of cooperative employees’ unions and cooperative officials at the office of the Joint Registrar of Cooperatives here on Thursday.

The Madurai District Central Cooperative Bank has agreed to pay the salaries and arrears. Salary, which was not paid since March 2007, will be disbursed to employees. Salary will be disbursed to employees at primary agricultural cooperative banks at Kadir Narasingapuram, Sri Rengapuram, Silamalai, Upparpatti, B. Meenakshipuram, Bodi and Chinnamanur through the MDCCB and PACBs at Kodangipatti, Ramalingapuram, Kuchanur, Thevaram, M. Subbulapuram and Anumanthapatti from their own funds.

Moreover, pay fixation orders for employees who got pay regularisation had been issued.

Joint Director of Cooperative Audit, Madurai will be instructed to take necessary steps for disbursal of salaries to employees who got pay regularisation.

Following the agreement, the employees association has agreed to withdraw its proposed indefinite strike and opening of gruel centre agitation.

The meeting was attended by M. Murugan, Joint Registrar of Cooperatives, P. Ramanathan, General Manager, Madurai District Central Cooperative Bank, S. Gurumurthy, Deputy Registrar of Cooperatives, Uthampalayam and employees association district president N. Pandurangan, secretary B. Nagaraj and others.
