High Court refuses to pass interim order
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Thursday refused to pass any interim order as prayed for by a private educational institution to quash an order of the Education Department derecognising its primary school.
In its petition, the Devaraj Urs Vidya Samasthe said that it was running the Rockfort Primary School on Stadium Road in Chitradurga.
The Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI) had on December 18, 2006, issued a note initiating action against it and on August 17, 2007, an endorsement was issued derecognising the school, it said, urging the court to set aside the derecognition order.
The State said that the school had neither obtained any interim order from the High Court nor applied to the DDPI for opting for the voluntary scheme. It was imparting education in English and not sticking to the undertaking it had given while opening the school that it would teach primary school students in Kannada. It said that an inspection had shown that students were being taught in English.
