Bapu’s stature bigger than any award

Mahatma Gandhi was the most discussed personality in the last few days.

If CPI leader K. Narayana relishing chicken curry on the Gandhi Jayanti day became a much talked about issue thanks to alert media cameras, the leader went on record expressing his regret and taking a vow for abstaining from the non-vegetarian food for full one year as an act of remorse.

But what actually resulted in a debate was the regret expressed by a Nobel Committee member that a lapse had been committed in not awarding Nobel Peace Prize to Mahatma. “Gandhi is too great a personality and pioneer of non-violence movement. His stature itself across the world is much bigger than any award, however prestigious it may be” opined quite a few citizens. True, in our own country, ‘Father of Nation’ is much superior to ‘Bharat Ratna’, concurred another.
