With reference to a report regarding an accident involving two buses near Karamadai appeared in these columns on October 3, the general manager of Veejay Lakshmi Textiles Limited, P. Boopathi, says that the report mentioning one of the accident victims belonging to the mill losing her leg and hand was factually incorrect.
Besides, the 28 injured were treated only for minor injuries.

A woman who suffered extensive injuries on her hand beyond salvageable condition was identified as Mathimegala (25) of Madurai who was returning from Kotagiri to Madurai by the State Transport Corporation bus that collided with the mill bus.
The police and those involved in the rescue operations had initially identified her as the one who was on board the mill bus.
Another woman who sustained extensive injuries on her limb in the same accident was admitted to a hospital in Coimbatore.
The authorities now confirm that there was a mistake in identification because of the commotion at the accident site.
The woman who lost her leg and hand was on board the Government bus and not as reported.
