Legal Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The AIADMK on Thursday moved a contempt petition in the Supreme Court against Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary L.K. Tripathi, Director-General of Police P. Rajendran, Transport Secretary Debendranath Sarangi, Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and Transport Minister K.N. Nehru for allegedly violating the order passed by the apex court on September 30 prohibiting the enforcement of bandh in the State on October 1.

The petition filed by the presidium chairman of the party, E. Madhusudhanan, also named the Union Minister T.R. Baalu as a respondent for allegedly making certain remarks criticising the judiciary at the venue of the hunger strike.

The petition is likely to come up for hearing next week.
