GUNTUR: Robots can be useful in working in difficult and dangerous testing conditions making life simpler for the human being, IIIT professor Rajesh Kumar from Jabalpur said during a guest lecture on ‘Robotics’. During the lecture organised by the Physics Department of Tellakula Jalayya Polisetty Somasundaram College here on Friday, he said that majority of the robots we needed could be fabricated in our college laboratories except for some that were meant for high-end special purposes. Main advantage of robots was to overcome any number of obstacles and the first robot was fabricated in Romania (robot means forced labour in Romanian language). “If students worked hard during their academic career and training period, they can perform well in their professional career,” Mr. Kumar said. Computers were not an essential part of manufacturing robots they could even be put together to perform any desired job with a microchip, he opined. College principal V. Krishna Murthy said that basis for electronics and computers was in physics in which all students must excel.
