BANGALORE: Bangalore’s aspiring MBAs will soon have the opportunity to “Meet Ross”. The Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan will on Tuesday have a “Meet Ross” reception, organised by the University of Michigan India Alumni Association (UMIAA). The Ross School of Business, located in Ann Arbor, Michigan, has the distinction of being ranked among the top business schools by major publications and rankings, and its graduates are recognised for their leadership and team skills. Noted professors C.K. Prahalad, Noel Tichy and Robert Quinn are some of the eminent members of the faculty at Ross. And as if that is not suitably impressive, the business school is also all set to move into a spectacular new 270,000 sq. ft building (built at a cost of $145 million). Fundamentals“Knowledge is important to know how things work, but it is more important to know what, when and where this knowledge must be applied to meet the required objectives,” believes Sanjeev Babel, Principal Consultant at MindTree Consulting and alumnus of the Ross. He adds that the Ross MBA programme is uniquely designed to learn these fundamentals and apply them to real world business challenges. What’s more, this year, 95 per cent of MBAs from Ross received offers by the time of their graduation. Management consulting, investment banking, marketing and general management are some of the most popular areas with students. The student body is cosmopolitan, and among those who entered the MBA class this year, a third had been international students. Among the Ross alumni in India are Bharat Patel, chairman of P&G India; Sumant Bharat Ram, COO & CFO of DCM Ltd.; Viji Santhanam, joint managing director, TVS; and Sanjay Reddy, vice-chairman, GVK Industries. However, the school reminds aspirants that admission to the Ross is competitive: students who enrolled this year had an average GMAT score of 702 and an average of five years of work experience. Candidates with a GMAT score above 680 and a minimum of three years of work experience can pre-register for the event in the admissions section of the Ross website, www.bus.umich.edu/meetross, or email babels@umich.edu The meeting will take place at Hotel Taj Gateway on October 9 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
