Committee formed

Udhagamandalam: A district-level committee has been formed to safeguard the interests of casual labourers.

Stating this in a press note issued here on Friday, the Nilgiris Collector Santosh K.Misra said that the committee headed by the Collector would have Labour Inspector T.Dharmaseelan as the Member-Secretary and include the Project Officer, District Rural Development Agency, the District Revenue Officer, the Deputy Commissioner (Labour), the Deputy Director of Health and the District Social Welfare Officer.

Representatives of various associations and labour unions would also be on the committee.

It would ensure that the benefits of various schemes reached the labourers and their families.
