CPI protest against onion price today

Correspondent

VIZIANAGARAM: The Communist Party of India will be organising dharnas at all tehsildar offices in the district on October 6 in protest against soaring price of onion in the open market.

Party leader B. Suribabu said in a statement that onion, being supplied at Rs. 7 a kg through rythu bazaars, was not reaching all due to inadequate procurement by the department concerned thus forcing the common man to purchase the commodity at Rs. 24 a kg in open market.

He demanded that onion be supplied through Fair Price shops.

The CPI leader appealed to people of all sections to take part in the protest programme in large numbers and make it a big success.

Visit put off

The proposed visit of Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy to Poosapatirega and Denkada mandals in Vizianagaram district on Sunday has been put off, according to official sources.
