Land mafia at work: P.C. George

KOCHI: P.C. George, MLA, has alleged that the so-called land mafia is adopting unscrupulous methods to acquire land at various places in Kochi, Kannur, Kozhikode, Vaikom and Kottayam. Addressing a press conference here on Friday, he said the government machinery was being misused by the land mafia. He questioned the government move to join hands with a private group for developing a construction project in an environmentally sensitive area in Kochi. The government had admitted that there was 18 acres of government land at Valanthakkadu where the project was expected to come up. — Staff Reporter
