Student dead, tension in Mahota

Muzaffarnagar: Tension prevailed in Mahota town of the neighbouring Saharanpur district after one student died while another was injured in a clash between two groups of students, police said on Friday.

Ankit (17), a class XI student, was allegedly stabbed to death and his friend Wasil was injured on Thursday during a clash between two groups of students from different schools over some old enmity.

Angry over the death of the student, irate students blocked the traffic at the highway and also damaged public property.

A case has been registered against five students in this connection, they said, adding security has been tightened.
